Vidhana Soudha & State Central Library

It is been a couple of months since I last stood in front of Bengaluru’s most magnificent building, Vidhana Soudha. I planned for the weekend visit and my little daughter wanted to join me. She likes to go with me for places like this. My wife also joined us.

The best time to capture Vidhana Soudha is around 7 am to 8 am when there is no traffic flow. I reached this State Secretariat at about 10 am and found that the vehicular movement had already started. Parking is a big problem in Bengaluru but there is enough space for it inside the Cubbon Park.

I headed towards the Sheshadri Iyer Memorial Hall to park my bike. Thankfully, the vehicles can go inside the Cubbon Park on Saturday but not on Sunday. Sunday is a no-traffic day here except for bicycles. You can come here with your children on Sunday to spend a quality time with them.

The memorial hall is a Karnataka State Central Library and a popular heritage building inside Cubbon Park. I wanted to show this library to my seven-year-old daughter who was equally excited to see.

As we entered the library, we saw many readers with pin-drop silence. Imagine if our parliament worked this way 🙂

The library has a vast collection of books on several topics from across the world. The younger generation should be encouraged to visit libraries to read paper books rather encouraging them to read it on Kinder. It strains the eyes and nerves.

The Sheshadri Iyer building and the surroundings is an ideal place for photography and of course for selfies. If you are on tour to Bengaluru, consider taking selfies in front of this building and the Vidhana Soudha. Don’t you want to prove that you had been to Bengaluru?

What is most surprising was the several photo-shoots happened here today. You will not believe that we saw four stages of life in these photo sessions.

  1. A photo-shoot of a young girl for her modelling assignment
  2. A couple posing for a pre or post marriage photography
  3. A pregnant woman posing for a photograph (pregnancy photography?)
  4. A married couple with their little child posing for a photograph

Is it not a wonderful thing to witness?

After some time, we walked towards Vidhana Soudha. By now, it was too sunny and bright. I knew it was not the right time for capturing this marvel.

I captured some bright images of State Secretariat and later realized there were some black spots in all the images. What was that? It is a dirt in the camera sensor. God, I have already crossed my budget this month 😦

Grilled Sweet Corn

There is no eatery or water available except the street vendors selling grilled sweet corn, fresh sugarcane juice and cut fruits.

I could temporarily stop my hunger with the corn and fresh cane juice.
